A swimsuit can look beautiful on a hanger and feel completely different once it’s on.
That’s why fit has been one of the biggest priorities in developing SORVEL.
Swimwear leaves very little room to hide a poor fit. A few millimeters can change where a bottom sits on the hip. The shape of a cup can change the way the entire top feels. A leg opening can flatter the body or fight against it.
We’ve learned quickly that the smallest adjustments are often the ones that matter most.
For Collection No. 001, we’ve spent time looking closely at proportion, support, coverage, rise, and how each piece moves on the body. Not every sample gets it right the first time. Sometimes a line needs to move. Sometimes coverage needs to change. Sometimes something that looked right on paper simply doesn’t work once it’s worn.
So we change it.
We also don’t believe fit should mean forcing every body into the same shape. The goal is to create silhouettes that work with the body — pieces that feel secure without feeling restrictive and flattering without relying on uncomfortable construction to get there.
That same approach extends to Decker, our first men’s swim short. Length, room through the leg, and freedom of movement matter just as much as how the short looks.
There are easier parts of building a swimsuit to photograph.
Fit isn’t really one of them.
But when it’s right, you feel the difference immediately.
And for us, that’s where a good swimsuit starts.
