Good Things Take Time

SORVEL could launch faster.

We’ve chosen not to.

Developing our first collection has meant sampling, changing proportions, reconsidering materials, questioning details, and occasionally going back to something we thought we had already figured out.

That takes time.

There are decisions that seem small until you see them on the finished piece. The width of a strap. The curve of a neckline. Where a bottom sits on the hip. How much coverage feels right. The weight of a fabric. Whether a piece of hardware adds something to the design or simply adds more to it.

Sometimes the answer is to change something.

Sometimes it’s to remove it altogether.

And sometimes it means waiting for another sample rather than approving something that’s almost right.

We’re also learning as we build. SORVEL is a new brand, and Collection No. 001 is our first production run. We don’t think there’s any reason to pretend otherwise.

What we can control is the standard we’re willing to accept.

So we’re giving the first collection the time it needs. Not to make the process sound precious or complicated, but because we want to be proud of what eventually carries the SORVEL name.

There will be more samples. More adjustments. Probably a few more things we change our minds about.

That’s okay.

We’d rather get it right than rush it.
